Digital/Visual Storytelling in Your Community Assignment

Digital Storytelling did pose a challenge on starting and continuing to develop it. The ISTE proficiency I came closest to meeting is the 2.5a using technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs. I used Filmora to create a memorial for my beloved grandmother and portray a story presented digitally that can have its narration on its own.

Digital storytelling can support community members in a variety of ways. For students, digital storytelling can serve as a format to share experiences and provide them with a voice to be heard and acknowledged. For staff and faculty, digital storytelling can serve as an educational tool to provide interactive learning across all subjects and professional development. For parents, digital storytelling can serve as an assisting tool for assisting their child and/or presenting information in a different format.

Staley states, Benefits of Digital storytelling include expressing student emotion and voice, acquiring a wide range of audience, and student engagement (p.3). Not only are students benefiting in all sorts of ways but also digital storytelling assists as a too to support students academic achievement.
