1) From the Crompton (2023) article, describe at least two best practices to support student learning gains from educational research reflected in the ISTE Educator Standards. How might these connections assist you in guiding the development of a Technology Vision for your district or organization based on the identified digital divide(s) you have identified? After reading Crompton’s article, two best practices to support gains in student learning were concluded. The first ISTE standards is: 2.5 Designer because it includes “authentic learning” which is relevant to the Technology Vision in the district because of the limited authentic digital Spanish resources for teachers and students to be able to create the authentic learning environment (Crompton 2023).
The second ISTE standard is the 2.4 Collaborator specifically “teacher collaboration” which
allows sharing ideas across content areas and in different settings (Crompton 2023). Teacher
collaboration is relevant to the Technology vision because as technology is prominent and in
constant evolution, it is essential to share ideas and thoughts about the digital tools used,
modifications made, and/or sharing of ideas or questions. This also emphasizes the importance
of setting a set time for collaboration to happen. 2) Gonzales (2019) offers perspectives into the challenges that school leaders face as they serve as technology leaders. How might the challenges that arise with a 1:1 initiative be addressed in the Technology Vision and Goals? How might the ISTE Education Leader Standards provide support/guidance for you and your leader(s) as you engage in the process of developing and sustaining a Technology Integration Plan? The district is currently able to provide students with 1:1 devices which has mitigated the sharing
of devices. Although that problem has been solved, there is another challenging problem, which
is adequate student use of the devices to interpret, learn, and present the learning. I think it
would benefit the district if technology coaches would support administration, teachers, staff, and
students in the different online formats or programs to better equip them with digital literacy.
3) In what ways might you employ the ISTE Standards for Students, Educators, and Education Leaders as you collaborate with stakeholders to develop a Technology Vision and Goals to address digital inequity in your school or organization? How might you leverage the ISTE Essential Conditions to support this work?
Administrators are required to create an atmosphere where there is an importance of
technology integrations and innovation. To be able to effectively use technology in learning, the
ISTE Essential Standards serve as a guide. The standards are important to analyze and include
when determining the Technology vision and plan. Resources Crompton, H. (2023). Evidence of the ISTE standards for educators leading to learning gains. Hi Lorena,
ReplyDeleteMy district also offers 1:1 devices to all students, but we are lacking quality resources to support learning. I'm hoping that modifications are made in order to address the need for Spanish resources.
