1)  Select one article from those linked below regarding Universal Design for Learning and provide a summary of the article and discuss connections to the lesson you are developing . The universal design for learning guidelines is a great table that goes in depth and provides information on how to include it in lessons or provide those opportunities for learners. There are guidelines that are not applicable to all learners and may struggle because of that so it is important to dive deep and figure out ways to better support those students. The article also mentioned the importance of knowing what to measure to better support and guide.  2)  Visit the CAST Universal Design for Learning website and use resources there to identify strategies that you could integrate into the lesson you are developing.  Discuss at least two strategies that you could meaningfully integrate into the lesson you are developing. Under engagement, guideline 7, and checkpoint 7.1 optimize in...

How might Broadband internet access for all Americans impact your community?  Is this an issue  for your community?  How does your school or district currently address this need?  Internet access for all the community would be ideal and open up many opportunities for both adults and  children. There are still areas with limited to no internet service due to location and services available.  Last year, students were able to take the device (I-pad or chromebook) home which had its advantages and  disadvantages. This year, students are not able to take devices home and are kept in the classroom. I think  it would benefit students if the device had the opportunity to come with internet access because it would  allow for support on homework, review any concepts by using flipped lessons provided on a digital  website, and to provide extension opportunities.  Consider the discussions in the ISTE (2018) guidance document and Crossland et al...

In 2014, Jones and Dexter stated that when a holistic approach for technology learning for teachers is approached, there is greater success because it provides different learning types such as formal, informal and independent learning. Planning for professional development is tedious but very important therefore it is important to plan with school leaders to effectively provide learning and collaboration opportunities for teachers. The topic covered for the technology plan would be to address the gap on the effective use and implementation of technology and technology resources to support the Spanish language in the Dual language classroom.  Teacher and student learning need to be aligned so the teacher is better equipped to support current and ongoing practices within the classroom. I think it is important for constant refreshers and for teachers to be able to access and view the students' side of the technology and/or program. Some support may arise til the situation occurs a...

1st Grade Spanish Dipthongs Lesson Part 1 :  The diptongos (in Spanish, two vowel that do not separate in a syllable- /cie//lo/ =cielo) lesson has great starting points and had a progression of activities for students to get exposure. The lesson is aligned with the standard which is to write words with diphthongs. This lesson would be an introductory lesson. The lesson is rigorous and the assessment does not align because it's having to identify the dipthong within a spoken word. Improvements would be to incorporate technology such as Seesaw for the activities to be more interactive versus a worksheet. Provide them a format different where they would type their answer in an online document which would support working with digital writing tools. The tool is useful for the creation of a lesson plan but I do believe teacher use of judgement can refine the lesson plan to be more rigorous. The lesson plan has all the components that are required.  Part 2 :  The AI powered ...

1) From the Crompton (2023) article, describe at least two best practices to support student learning gains from educational research reflected in the ISTE Educator Standards. How might these connections assist you in guiding the development of a Technology Vision for your district or organization based on the identified digital divide(s) you have identified? After reading Crompton’s article, two best practices to support gains in student learning were concluded. The first ISTE standards is: 2.5 Designer because it includes “authentic learning” which is relevant to the Technology Vision in the district because of the limited authentic digital Spanish resources for teachers and students to be able to create the authentic learning environment (Crompton 2023). The second ISTE standard is the 2.4 Collaborator specifically “teacher collaboration” which allows sharing ideas across content areas and in different settings (Crompton 2023). Teacher collaboration is relevant to the Technolo...

The infographic below presents the highlights of the motivation to learn. The components I included were the power of choice, self-efficacy, and interest which drives the students' motivation to learn. The alignment with Gura is providing opportunities for students to dive deeper and choices when it comes to their learning.  References: Gura, M. (2020). Fostering Student Creativity. Part 1:  Authentic Intellectual Work/Authentic Instruction & Assessment.   What is the nature of Authentic Intellectual Work?  How does it differ from traditional approaches to instruction and assessment?  The nature of Authentic Intellectual Work goes beyond the traditional approach in instruction and assessment. Authentic Intellectual work are skills that are in depth and transfer to adult life to make decisions and build great communication.  Discuss the components of Authentic Intellectual Work and provide deep consideration of at least one component by including a discussion of empirical (research-based) evidence. The components of Authentic Intellectual Work are construction of knowledge, discipline inquiry, and value beyond school (Newman, King, & Carmichael 2007). The components go more in depth of what is included. For the construction of knowledge, to be able to solve new problems organization, interpreting, evaluating or synthesizing prio...
